How can you be saved?
In order to be saved from an eternity in hell, you just need to understand a few simple things.
- Realize we have all done what is wrong
- The punishment for the wrong we've done, is an eternity in hell
- You must be perfect to go to heaven
- Man cannot save himself. He needs God's help
- God loves us. Christ died for our sins, taking our punishment, so we don't have to go to hell
- Salvation is a free gift to EVERYONE.
- You can know you have eternal life
Let's look at this quickly and see how simple it is to be saved.
It is my judgment that we should not make it difficult for the people who are turning to God.
- James the brother of Jesus in the Bible, Acts 15:19
1
First, we've all done what is wrong at some point in our lives
The Bible tells us that we have all done what is wrong, called "sin". At some point each of us has done something we know in our hearts was wrong. We have all sinned and are all guilty before God.
- Romans 3:23 says, "... all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. No one does good. No. Not one!"
- Isaiah 53:6 says, "All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way"
2
The punishment for sin is death, which is an eternity in hell separated from God.
The Bible tells us we will all stand before God and be judged for what we have done. And the punishment for sin is hell.
-
Romans 6:23 says, "For the wages of sin is death!"
- I Corinthians 5:10 says, "For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad."
3
You must be perfect and guiltless to go to Heaven.
God requires absolute cleanliness and perfection in order to enter Heaven. No one with sin is allowed into Heaven.
- Revelation 21:27 says, "Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life."
4
Man cannot save himself. He cannot cleanse himself from his sin. He needs help.
The Bible says the best we can do is "filth" in God's sight. We simply are not good enough and are not able to clean ourselves up.
- Romans 3:20 says, "Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law."
- Ephesians 2:8-9 says, "For by grace you are saved, through faith. Not by works!"
- Galations 2:16 says "know that a person is not justified by the works of the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ"
- Isaiah 64:6 says, "..But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags."

God loves us. So Christ died for our sins so we don't have to go to hell.
God is truly good, and God truly loves us. Before God created any human beings, He had a plan to save us knowing full-well that we would do what is wrong and become guilty of sin. Christ came to take our punishment and save us from our sins. He suffered and died for us, so we don't have to go to hell.
-
Isaiah 53 says, "But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all."
-
Romans 5:8 says, "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
- Jesus said in John 3:16, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son."

Salvation is a free gift to EVERYONE! Just believe in Christ!
The Bible makes it clear that anyone, at any time, can be saved. God will turn no one away. You simply have to believe that Jesus was God's son who died for you and trust Him as the substitute and punishment for your sin.
- In John 6:37 Jesus says, "...him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out."
- Romans 10:13 says, "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."
- Romans 6:23 says, "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
- Revelation 22:17 says, "The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life." Romans 10:9 says, "That if thou shalt confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in your heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."
- In John 6:47 Jesus says, "Very truly I tell you, the one who believes has eternal life."
7
You can know you have eternal life.
John, one of Jesus' disciples tells us we can be comforted and know we have eternal life and will escape hell.
- I John 5:13 says, "I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life."

What to do now...
In short, we are all guilty before God and can do nothing to save ourselves. But God loves us and provided a way of escape. A "Get out of jail free card", so to speak.
Jesus suffered in our place and took our punishment. We simply trust God and take him at his word! If we believe that Jesus was God's son who died for us, that he was buried
and rose again, and trust him as our substitute, then we are saved.
Yes. It is that simple. If you believe in Christ and trust him as your savior, you are saved! Many times when someone gets saved they pray a prayer to God to acknowledge their salvation and thank God for His unending love and goodness. I invite you to pray the following simple prayer. If you've never prayed before, no big deal. Prayer is simply "talking to God". You can speak out loud or just think the words in your mind speaking to God silently.
This prayer doesn't save you. But having a believing heart willing to pray a prayer like this, does. This prayer is called the "Sinner's Prayer" and Jesus himself taught it in the Bible telling the story of a sinful man one day asking God for salvation, in Luke 18:13.
